Exhibition Grounds, Brno, entire Czech Re:public
100 years of independent Czechoslovakia
90 years of Brno Exhibition Grounds
Concerts, dancing, theatre performances, sports, major personalities, design, architecture
The 100th anniversary of the establishment of independent Czechoslovakia calls for a celebration, and there’s no better place than the very Exhibition Grounds where 90 years ago the first decade of independence was celebrated. Good traditions are worth sticking to.
The Re:publika (Re:public) project will commemorate everything the Czech lands have gone through during these one hundred years. Revolutionary historic moments. Unforgettable people. Famous victories. Useful inventions.
Unparalleled works of art. And your personal stories as well.
The festival was initiated by the statutory city of Brno and its mayor and will take place under the patronage of the president of the Czech Republic, Ministry of Culture, the chairs of Parliament as well as Senate, governor of the South Moravian region, the Association of Regions of the Czech Republic, the Union of Towns and Municipalities of the Czech Republic, rectors of all Brno universities as well as Brno bishop Vojtěch Cikrle. The festival has been promoted through Czech embassies, Czech Centres, partner cities, and the CzechTourism agency in Slovakia, Austria, and other countries.
We’d like Re:publika to be an interactive area for everybody to meet, debate, relax, learn and have fun. We’d like to turn each Brno citizen into a co-creator of this event. We’ll ask businessmen, associations, clubs, restaurants, and individual people to be creative and come up with their ideas or help organize the event and actively form its content. We hope the people of Brno will enjoy the event and fully identify with it.
