After a mysterious death in a hospital, Nurse Hana becomes the first suspect. How far does the presumption of innocence extend? Hard-working, terse, and strongly convinced she’s right in her actions, Nurse Hana Kučerová looks out for herself. So she isn’t very popular among her colleagues and neighbours. In this tense environment, the head physician Vaculík tries to maintain at least partial peace among the nurses and create the calm the patients need. But both he and probably everyone around him have their own secrets and motivations, which aren’t easy to navigate. How to decide what’s true and what’s a lie when the facts are ambiguous and the only thing available to us is our feelings and impressions? How easy is it to judge matters based on how they look to us and not how they really are?

FILMING LOCATIONS

Ivančice Hospital

Ivančice is among the oldest cities in Moravia, founded back during the reign of Margrave Vladislaus Henry, who ruled from 1196 until 1222. Ivančice Hospital was established in 1859 on Široká Street in a building owned by František Reisinger as a society hospital with 22 beds. In 2003, it began being operated by the South Moravian Region and gained its current name, and at last report it has 214 beds.

FUN FACTS FROM FILMING

“Originally, we’d chosen a different hospital than the one where we filmed the miniseries. About three weeks before filming there, we understandably were forbidden because the second wave of Covid had started and the original hospital had very limited capacity. At literally the eleventh hour, we reached an agreement with the hospital in Ivančice so we could do the hospital scenes there. The situation around Covid was always breathing down our necks. We didn’t know from one day to the next whether we could film at all. Each evening when the producer or someone from production called, we were afraid to answer. It might have meant that they were going to close again or someone was infected, which would have meant an indefinite halt,” noted director Michal Blaško to TV Guru.
