OHB: Mendel Museum, Masaryk University

This richly ornate Baroque library, belonging to the Augustinian Abbey, contains almost 27,000 volumes, from rare first editions to detective stories. It emanates from the beginning of the 18th century and was commissioned and established by the first abbot, Matthias Pertscher. You can find here books on topics such as theological, natural history philosophical themes. The entire space is lavishly ornamented, with the predominant decorative motif being the four statues from David’s dream and the golden cartouche of the Holy Fathers.
