Once a safe haven for Brno’s underground culture
Underwent thorough reconstruction in 2005
Concerts, pub quizzes, film screenings, and more
This legendary Brno club was first established in 1993
In the past, Mersey hosted up to twenty concerts a month. On its small round stage, bands from all over the world performed, with Tichá dohoda, Dunaj, Garáž, Insania, and Nikki Sudden and The Jacobites among its frequent guests. World-famous artists such as Hugo Race, Bruno Adams, and Jazz con Bass performed here as well. With the arrival of electronic music, the club’s programming shifted towards acid jazz and house music. In 1995, Luboš Pavlovič AKA L. P. Fish was put in charge of programming. A great number of club nights were organised and included prominent Czech DJs. In 1998, this euphoria was stifled due to noise complaints, at which point DJ Silent took over the club’s programme. Since 2016, the club has been run by Jarek Zelina, who has added film screenings, music nights and even popular pub quizzes to Mersey’s schedule of events.
