The prison remembers!
The prison remembers – a place of memory
Continuity and history
Respect for the building, its history, the fates of those who suffered in it, and living witnesses is and will remain an important part of the place and the programme in it. The dramaturgy honours the fact that we aren’t entering the prison as an empty space. It’s filled with personal stories, which is necessary to consider when deciding on the suitability of certain events. Memorial and mourning activities (the placement of wreaths, various talks, tours with witnesses, etc.) are an important and natural part of life in the prison. Cooperation with such organizations as Post Bellum and the Paměť (Memory) civic association is an expression of this principle. Still, respect for history doesn’t need to slow the search for various new forms for sharing historical themes. Through cooperation with artists, experiential educators, and urban game creators, for example, we can prepare a remarkable interactive tour for students and many other activities.
