What did the diet of one of the most remarkable composers of the 20th century, Leoš Janáček, look like? What did he like and what did he avoid? Our exhibition can answer these questions. In 2020 the Tourist Information Centre decided, together with the Moravian Museum, to publish a booklet with recipes of the housekeeper at Janáček’s, Marie Stejskalová. The publication “Mary’s Cookbook” appeared containing besides numerous recipes for dishes prepared in Janáček’s household also comments on Master’s life and work.
An outstanding Brno artist, Vendula Chalánková, made the graphic design of this remarkable small book. The originals of the illustrations for this book are the core of the exhibition shown in the Leoš Janáček Memorial. Art objects that Chalánkova “cooked and baked” to the recipes in Mary’s cookbook are part of the installation.
