In his upcoming solo exhibition at TIC Gallery, Gideon Horváth will continue his project dealing with the contemporary representation of the mythological figure of the faun. In his previous exhibition this year at ISBN Books+ Gallery in Budapest the artist focused on the faun’s queer hypersensitivity and the gesture of resilience which both appear as emancipatory powers.
Gideon Horváth works with beeswax which he considers a constantly changing and fluid, queer material that can help him create an environment closely related to the carnivalesque world of Bacchus.
In the upcoming exhibition the artist will elaborate further on this topic, not only presenting sculptures and objects but also a new video piece reflecting on the personal encounter with the figure of the faun, also as a self-reflexive gesture.
