In accordance with the principles of concretism, the activation of the viewer and his or her procesural perception in motion was essential in the major part of Jiří Hilmar’s work. It was later replaced by a growing interest in environmental issues in the form of artistic interventions in natural processes. Apart from paper reliefs folded into optical structures, the artist’s large retrospective will present monochromes created in parallel made of layered tracing paper and works from the later period made of natural materials, dominated by wood in the last phase.⁣⁣

In his new exhibition project Love Life, Jiří Thýn continues to liberate the medium of photography from its descriptiveness and in exploring the possibilities of its intermedia overlaps. In his photography-object installation, Jiří Thýn strives for a subjective reflection of the world against the background of current events. The medium of photography remains Thýn’s main means of expression; he tries to approach it formally like a “painting”. The medium of installation intended to enhance the overall emotional effect of the exhibited works is also an essential part of Jiří Thýn’s work.⁣⁣

Néphéli Barbas / The Sky Serene as A Vast Aquarium⁣⁣

Néphéli Barbas presents an installation of sculptures hosting drawings reminiscent of architectural walks and urban interiors. The artist is interested in the way certain forms communicate through time by fabricating memory: for example, the way modernism can be crossed by baroque, classical or archaic influences. The idea of memory alteration and the way it can change forms is very active in her work. These walks allow a commutativity between past and present, while leaving behind a linear vision of time.⁣⁣
