Exhibition with 60 nativity scenes and a rarity in Brno – a year-round nativity scene.
The traditional exhibition of nativity scenes in Letohrádek Mitrovských in Old Brno will present historical and contemporary exhibits of various sizes and types, both from us and from abroad. There will also be various curiosities. An exceptional exhibit is an extensive hand-painted paper nativity scene from 1933 by Jan Václav of Železnobrodsko.
Exotic nativity scenes then come from Christian areas of Africa and South or Central America. There will also be an Old Brno paper nativity scene with important monuments from the vicinity of the summer palace and important personalities who worked in this part of Brno (E. Rejčka, A. A. Mitrovský, G. J. Mendel, L. Janáček, etc.).
Exclusively in the summer house, we will exhibit a collection of historic wax infant Jesus. The exhibition will include the so-called year-round nativity scene = diorama The Life of Jesus Christ with 105 figures – each 30 cm in size, with a sound loop that tells the story from the proclamation and birth to the crucifixion and resurrection. The nativity scene was created for 2 years and the figures were made by hand using the sheep wool felting technique.
