American composer, conductor, and pianist Jeremy Gill presents a recital of his recent piano music alongside works by his mentor, American composer George Rochberg (1912–2005).
Gill will play selections of his own music from the years since Rochbergʼs death, as well as selections of Rochbergʼs music from the 1940s through the 1980s, and discuss the relationship between them. Complementing the program will be a performance of Gillʼs Dos sonetos de amor—one of the last pieces he completed while working with Rochberg—performed by Brno native Štěpán Filípek and his regular chamber music partner, American pianist Katelyn Bouska.
This concert is a rare opportunity to hear these American composers and a fascinating look at how one generation of composers influences its successor.
