Plan for Brno is a two-day international conference about the urban development in Brno, which deals with everything that influences the quality of life in a city.
Since Brno fails in solving its most burning problems, this event invites experts from abroad who have coped with similar issues elsewhere. The aim of the conference is to come up with a sustainable plan for the development of Brno.
Brno is a great city to live in. It might get even better, though. An easier and faster transport well-connecting distant places would be a welcome improvement, as well as more practical landscape planning of streets, squares and parks. Similarly, the possibility to found new communities or to do business locally leaves much to be desired. We wish that the services available to inhabitants of the city centre were equally accessible for those in Líšeň, Masarykova čtvrť or Tuřany.
We believe that awareness and active involvement of citizens, as well as the enlightened and conceptual approach of politicians and municipal authorities, are the key ingredients in our struggle. Therefore, we want to involve as many citizens as possible in discussing Brno’s urban planning and help politicians, authorities and developers, who have arguably the biggest influence on the city’s shape, to form informed opinions. The principal output of the conference will be a real plan for Brno – a list of principles setting the tone for Brno’s future development.
The conference will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday 26 and 27 September from 15:30 to 20:30 at the premises of Univerzitní kino Scala. For more information, visit www.planprobrno.cz or follow our Facebook page @planprobrno.
