In the second half of January, Brno once again belongs to the Go and REGIONTOUR fairs. These will take place at the Brno Exhibition Centre 17–20 January and will be a meeting point for tourism professionals and the general public. The City of Brno will present at one stand with the South Moravian Region. The theme will be Brno and South Moravia from a different angle.
Science, research, and us
In 2019, the shared stand’s theme is “from a different angle”. Brno understands this angle as science, research, new technologies, and their connection with art in everyday life. It is typical for the city for science not to be closed behind the walls of research institutions, but for various institutions to make it available to all. The city is home to important companies changing the world and has 282 students per square kilometre. Brno will also present science in a fun way at its stand. Together with CEITEC MU, for example, visitors can analyse brain microstates and build viruses from paper. The Brno Zoo will have 360° video from the Arctic, 3D glasses, and an ice sculpture that will disappear at a similar rate as polar bears’ natural environment. The VIDA! science centre is also preparing a show. The main theme for 2019 will be anniversaries for important Brno universities. Masaryk University will present its Science Slam with four science fields and will use its stand to attract visitors to its celebration.
Bars, wine, and undiscovered destinations
Brno isn’t (only) about science. It’s long been proud of its lively centre and excellent food scene. Its stand will regularly host a bartender show alternating with tastings of South Moravian wine. Food and drink isn’t the only theme through which the region and city will meet. There’s also that “different angle”. The South Moravian Region will present destinations yet undiscovered and destinations known for other things.
Try rock climbing and extreme gastronomy at the fair
REGIONTOUR is a prestigious presentation platform for the potential of tourism within Czech regions. GO has presentations from local and foreign travel agencies. In addition to these offers and an expert programme, the exhibition centre will also host a rich entertainment programme. At the same time as these fairs, there will be the RegFoodFest for regional specialities and food, the international Gastro Junior Brno competition, and Go KAMERA – a festival of travel films, photography, and publications. Also, Hall P will offer the chance to try sports such as golf and mountaineering and taste exotic dishes as part of extreme gastronomy. In 2018, there were 803 companies presenting to more than 31,000 people. This year, visitors can also join the campaign for the fair through the #vzacnemalickosti (#precioustrivialities) competition, which ends 14 January.
