The mightiest inspiration for the Easter Festival of Sacred Music is its timing in the Holy Week with church reminders of the Last Supper and Jesus Christ’s Martyrdom and the Resurrection Sunday and the following Easter Week. 6 May BRNO RAG DAY
The May festivals are spread across the month, culminating with the Rag Day parade and open-air festival, the biggest event of its kind in the country. The festival is held at the Brno Exhibition Grounds and will offer more than just its rich musical programme. May CITY WEEK
The city week will awaken the interest of citizens in the happenings in their city around them. The multi-genre cultural festival called Meeting Brno is aimed at the mapping and re-awakening of the history of the largest Moravian city whose face has been shaped and given purpose by not only Czech but also German and Jewish communities. 26 May–25 June STAROBRNO IGNIS BRUNENSIS 2017

30 May–25 June MOZART´S CHILDREN
8th edition of the festival of young music performers called Mozart´s Children is held by the Brno Philharmonic in cooperation with the Music School at Smetanova 8. 3–28 June CONCENTUS MORAVIAE
This international music festival offers an opportunity to enjoy musical experiences while visiting inspiring venues across South Moravia and the Bohemian-Moravian Highland. The programme subtitled “La Voce“ commemorates the 450th anniversary of the birth of Claudio Monteverdi and is conceived as an apotheosis of the human voice. 9 June NIGHT OF CHURCHES
The Night of Churches is a project offering the widest public a chance to visit churches and prayer halls and become acquainted with their cultural value as well as the Christian religion through music, art, meetings and experiences. 16–18 June ŠPILBERK FOOD FESTIVAL

This street festival in the excluded Brno locality called “Bronx“ is a unique social and cultural concept tailor made for this locality. June–September SUMMER AT THE OLD TOWN HALL

1–31 July AUTHORS’ READING MONTH
The event consists of two main programme lines, one traditionally representing Czech, Slovak and Polish literature, and the other featuring literature of another country which is the honorary guest of the particular edition: in 2017 the guest country will be Georgia. 15–16 September SCIENCE FESTIVAL
Several dozen experts from Brno higher education institutions, academic sites and educational institutions will throw away their masks of esteemed scholars and open a playful Festival of Science with small and grown-up visitors. September INTERNATIONAL COMICS FESTIVAL KOMA
KOMA is the first festival of its kind introducing contemporary comics to a Brno audience. 1–7 October COFFEE WEEK

6–28 October GREAT OCTOBER EVOLUTION – MORAVIAN AUTUMN AND EXPOSITION OF NEW MUSIC
The Great October Evolution interconnects two traditional music festivals held by the Brno Philharmonic, the 49th Moravian Autumn and the jubilee 30th New Music Exposition. The themes of the festivals are music of the fi rst third of 20th century and music with “revolutionary” hints before and after that period, homage to the piano (a weekend-long marathon of piano recitals in memory of 300 years of tempered piano), 80th anniversary of the death of TG Masaryk (chorus concerts on 28 October) etc. www.mhf-brno.cz/en

The Science and Technology Week of the Academy of Science of the Czech Republic is the biggest and largest science festival in the Czech Republic.
